1.1 What is Barrier Pipe?
Barrier Pipe is utilised in Warm Water (Wet) Underfloor Heating systems under long life conditions for over 100 years. Barrier Pipes are manufactured to the highest standards to ensure optimum performance for Underfloor Heating applications. Water temperatures in excess of 80°C can be carried within a Barrier Pipe loop system which is managed by a distribution manifold system.

1.2 What are the advantages of Barrier Pipes systems?

  • Lifetime exceeding 100 years under application conditions of 80°C.
  • Short term loads of 125°C.
  • Barrier Pipe prevents oxidisation (diffusion) of metal elements within the water flow. The efficiency of the Wet Underfloor Heating system remains constant throughout the lifetime of the installation.
  • Very favourable price from UFH1.
  • 50 year guarantee for Barrier Pipe and Crimp Connectors.
  • Simple Assembly using plastic Underfloor Heating Templates.
  • Barrier Pipe complies with the leading EU (DIN) recognised standards. Barrier piping is certified according to ISO, ASTM and CSA standards, incorporates and oxygen diffusion barrier and complies with DIN 4726 and all European standards for underfloor heating pipe.
  • Full availability of accessories available from UFH1 including manifolds, templates, fittings, heating controls.

1.3 How is Barrier Pipe Manufactured?
Cross-linked polyethylene, as a material for distributing hot water up to 95°C, has been used worldwide for almost 40 years and has become the best-proven and the most widely used plastic for commercial and domestic installations of underfloor heating. Our cross-linked polyethylene features a specific stabilization process that provides a higher resistance to various phenomena, such as the effects of copper ions, UV-radiation and chlorine in hot water systems.

1.3 What Barrier Pipe sizes are available?
The cross sectional diameters are 16mm, 18mm, 20mm & 23 mm with the most common application for the UK being 16mm in diameter. The lengths are available in 400 meter rolls for 16mm, 300 meter rolls for 18mm, 300 meter rolls for 20mm & 250 meter rolls for 23mm diameter Barrier Pipe. The maximum length is normally a 100 meter circuit (loop). Larger spaces would require multiples of the 100 meter Barrier Pipe Loops. Bulk volumes are avaialble with supply being available for quantities of 10,000 meters or higher.
